Food and beverages industry is concerned about (a) efficient design of their products so that they can address important nutritional and health expectations; (b) adopting sustainable manufacturing processes reducing waste and environmental impact and (c) the end-of-life phase of packaging materials. Digital technologies and materials simulations in particular offer the appropriate tools to achieve several of food and beverage industry targets and more specifically those related to developing and selecting efficient food additives, packaging materials and more generally satisfying their sustainability and eco-responsibility goals. In this webinar we will demonstrate, how SCIENOMICS materials simulation technology and research services support the food and beverage industry to reach their goals in all aspects where the chemistry involved plays a central role in the quality and safety of the product and end-of-life of packaging.
The examples presented will demonstrate how to design better food products using materials simulation strategies applied on a ‘digital twin’ of the systems of interest. In particular we will show how to:
- Develop safe emulsifiers for food and beverages
- Reduce of undesirable mineral oils from food packaging
- Design biodegradable packaging materials without impacting their performance
